Do we have any real information on her that states that she wouldn't be a threat? A threat could be a lot of things, not just 'kill people.' The way Rathma used everyone in the cinematic, for example, no one's gonna like that guy who is 100% utilitarian. The player will probably need to find Inarius to stop this.

If I had to hazard a guess- we'll see Lilith go to war with her father and uncles, with her eyes set on the High Heavens once she's taken Hell. Lilith is the known quantity, the Prime Evils are all potentially loose and the big unknown to my mind is Inarius. The mini dlc story additions to D3 seemed to have been pointing towards Lilith being a thing, and I would hazard a guess that the canceled expansion probably informed a huge amount of D4s story. This did two things- salted the whole world with corrupted fragments (because Dibbles Immoral needed a currency) and removed the original restraints on Human (and by extension, Nephalem) potential. The Prime Evils promptly set about undermining this, and Tyrael just as quickly set about trying to (very quietly lest Imperius use it as an excuse to extinguish humanity, vote be damned) counter the Prime Evils.įast forward a few centuries to Baals attempt to corrupt the Worldstone to control humanity, because the sliver of the Worldstone used to contain him was re-bonded to it in the process there was no preventing it's eventual corruption even with Baal destroyed (or as destroyed as the Primes get, Black Soulstone notwithstanding), Tyrael had to destroy it. Both sides agreed to no direct intervention subsequently iirc. To guarantee peace, Inarius was handed over to the Burning Hells, and the High Heavens voted on whether or not to destroy humanity. The Worldstone was tuned to suppress humanities potential after Liliths first round of shenanigans because all of creation was nearly destroyed the first time she got up and running.
